Community-based initiatives
Much innovation in work to change discriminatory gender norms takes place at community level to try to loosen norm-based barriers to wellbeing and development. Some of this work directly challenges discriminatory norms, while other actions help marginalised groups build up the confidence, skills and social networks that help them overcome restrictive norms. The resources on these pages cover varied approaches to community-level norm change, including theatre, community dialogue, and empowerment-focused initiatives.
