Drawing on his experience of working with Tostan in West Africa and literature on social norm change and community-led development, Dr Ben Cislaghi discusses some of the challenges and opportunities that community-level action to change gender norms presents. He highlights issues related to power relations, competing agendas and the importance of working with men and boys.
