ALIGN newsletter privacy policy

By signing up to the ALIGN newsletter you give consent for us to use your email in accordance with the policy outlined here. 

As part of the registration process for our e-newsletter, we collect personal information. We use this information for the following reasons:

  • to tell you about ALIGN’s work; 
  • to contact you if we need to obtain additional information
  • to check our records are correct
  • to send news updates, event invitations and publications announcement from our project

We use a third-party provider, Dotmailer, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. Dotmailer provides more information on their services on their website. We do look to see how many people are opening our emails but do not use this data to profile you individually.

We will not share your data with anyone other than our newsletter provider.

The Overseas Development Institute (ODI) is the data controller for the ALIGN newsletter and its subscriber data.

We will come back to you in two years to confirm that you still consent to receiving emails from us. If you do not consent, we will stop sending you emails. Personal data will be held for two years or until the end of the project (December 2020), whichever comes sooner. 

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails or by emailing us at [email protected]. If you unsubscribe your email address will no longer be contacted but it will be retained for two years, or until the project ends (whichever is sooner), so that we can make sure we do not contact you in the future. 

You are always entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. You can contact us to exercise any of your Data Protection Rights, including complaints, at [email protected] or contact the regulator, www.ico.org.uk if you have any concerns that you feel we have not addressed.
