This research brief summarizes insights on gender socialization during adolescence in low and middle-income settings. The paper brings in theoretical perspectives from psychology, sociology and biology to discuss how gender norms can be understood to help policy, interventions and programming can draw on a more holistic understanding of the influences and outcomes of gender socialization.
